El club nace en el año 1922 tras la unión de diversos clubes de la isla de La Palma. Su primer presidente fue Don [[Silvestre Carrillo]], al que se le dedica el nombre del actual estadio. Su histórico rival ha sido siempre la [[Sociedad Deportiva Tenisca]]. El primer estadio que tuvo el Club Deportivo Mensajero fue el Fuensanta y fue gracias a la gran labor de Don Silvestre Carrillo. El actual tiene una capacidad de 6000 espectadores. Actualmente se está construyendo un nuevo estadio, al que se llamará Rosendo Hernández y que tendrá una capacidad de 6000 espectadores.

La historia del Club Deportivo Mensajero-La Palma comienza en el año [[1916]] cuando un grupo de amigos de [[Santa Cruz de La Palma]] forman un equipo juvenil. Le dieron ya entonces el nombre de Mensajero, siendo aquel grupo de amigos, los fundadores del actual Club Deportivo Mensajero-La Palma. Pero no es sino hasta el 6 de enero de [[1922]], cuando el Mensajero se constituye como club, siendo por tanto el decano del fútbol en la isla de La Palma. Su primer presidente fue Don Silvestre Carrillo, al que se le dedica el nombre del actual estadio,actalmente remodelado. Hasta el año [[1992]] milita en la liga interinsular ganando varios trofeos. El éxito más significativo de la entidad se dio en la temporada 91/92 cuando se proclamó campeón de la liguilla de ascenso y pasó a formar parte del grupo IV de la [[Segunda división B española|2ª División B del fútbol nacional]]. Hay que destacar que en las temporadas 1994-1995 y 1999-2000 el equipo llegó a disputar la liguilla de ascenso a la [[Segunda División española]].

A disputado la Copa del Rey con equipos de la liga española, como el [[Real Betis Balompié]], con el [[Real Club Celta de Vigo]] y el [[Atlético de Madrid]]. Tras la crisis económica y después de 10 años en la división de bronce el equipo comienza su caída descendiendo a tercera división y dos temporadas más tarde a la categoría Preferente. Sus primeros partidos como local los disputaba en el Estadio Bajamar que pertenecía a la S.D Tenisca (su eterno rival) hasta la construcción del Silvestre Carrillo, el cual ha sido remodelado jugando mientras duraron la obras en el Estadio Insular Rosendo Hernández. El Club Deportivo Mensajero es un club de fútbol de la ciudad de Santa Cruz de La Palma (La Palma.

Milita en 1ª Regional. Fue fundado en 1922. Es el club palmero que más éxitos ha conseguido a nivel deportivo, habiendo jugado durante varias temporadas en la categoría 2ª B.Su histórico rival ha sido siempre la Sociedad Deportiva Tenisca, donde forman el segundo derbi mas importantes de las islas Canarias, después del CD Tenerife y UD Las Palmas. En la actualidad cuenta con 900 socios.



Historia

La historia del Club Deportivo Mensajero-La Palma comienza en el año 1916 cuando un grupo de amigos de Santa Cruz de La Palma forman un equipo juvenil. Le dieron ya entonces el nombre de Mensajero, siendo aquel grupo de amigos, los fundadores del actual Club Deportivo Mensajero-La Palma. Pero no es sino hasta el 6 de enero de 1922, cuando el Mensajero se constituye como club, siendo por tanto el decano del fútbol en la isla de La Palma. Su primer presidente fue Don Silvestre Carrillo, al que se le dedica el nombre del actual estadio,actalmente remodelado. Hasta el año 1992 milita en la liga interinsular ganando varios trofeos. El éxito más significativo de la entidad se dio en la temporada 91/92 cuando se proclamó campeón de la liguilla de ascenso y pasó a formar parte del grupo IV de la 2ª División B del fútbol nacional. Hay que destacar que en las temporadas 1994-1995 y 1999-2000 el equipo llegó a disputar la liguilla de ascenso a la Segunda División española.

A disputado la Copa del Rey con equipos de la liga española, como el Real Betis Balompié, con el Real Club Celta de Vigo y el Atlético de Madrid. Tras la crisis económica y después de 10 años en la división de bronce el equipo comienza su caída descendiendo a tercera división y dos temporadas más tarde a la categoría Preferente. Sus primeros partidos como local los disputaba en el Estadio Bajamar que pertenecía a la S.D Tenisca (su eterno rival) hasta la construcción del Silvestre Carrillo, el cual ha sido remodelado jugando mientras duraron la obras en el Estadio Insular Rosendo Hernández. En la temporada 2007/2008 logró el ascenso a la 3ª División Canaria.
